FAQ
What is luxury vinyl plank flooring?
Plank LVT flooring is a durable and versatile flooring option that replicates the natural appearance of hardwood planks. Unlike traditional wood, luxury vinyl plank is constructed from multiple layers, including a protective wear layer that offers strong resistance to scratches, scuffs, and everyday wear and tear, making it suitable for busy households and high-traffic areas.
Depending on the product type, the core may be a flexible vinyl construction or a rigid SPC/WPC core for enhanced stability. This layered structure helps maintain the plank’s shape while providing comfort underfoot and excellent performance in a wide range of environments. With its blend of realistic aesthetics and practical durability, plank-style LVT offers an attractive, low-maintenance alternative to real wood flooring.
Is luxury vinyl plank flooring waterproof?
Yes. The planks themselves are made from waterproof materials, meaning they will not swell, warp, or become damaged when exposed to surface moisture or everyday spills. This makes luxury vinyl plank an excellent choice for kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, and basements where real wood would struggle with humidity and moisture. With correct installation and appropriate sealing around edges and fixtures, LVT plank flooring offers highly reliable water resistance for everyday home use, and liquids can be easily wiped away without damaging the planks themselves.
LVT plank sizes
Our LVT wood plank flooring comes in various dimensions to suit different design preferences and room sizes. Standard luxury vinyl plank widths typically range from 150mm to 230mm, with lengths varying from 900mm to 1500mm.
Wide plank LVT flooring options (200mm and above) create a more spacious, contemporary feel and work particularly well in larger open-plan areas or rooms where you want to minimise visual breaks in the floor.
Whereas narrower wood plank LVT suits traditional interiors and smaller spaces where proportions need careful consideration. Thickness varies between 2mm and 5mm, with thicker options offering better sound insulation and a more substantial underfoot feel. When planning your project, consider how plank width affects the visual flow of your space and always add 5% extra to your measurements to account for wastage during cutting and fitting.
Luxury vinyl plank flooring colours
Explore a range of tones across our luxury vinyl plank flooring selection, from rich, dark finishes to light luxury vinyl planks, ensuring compatibility with any interior scheme. White oak luxury vinyl plank flooring remains a popular choice for Scandinavian-inspired, coastal, or minimalist interiors, reflecting natural light and creating an airy atmosphere.
Grey luxury vinyl plank flooring suits both contemporary and industrial design schemes, offering versatility that pairs well with bold accent colours or neutral palettes. Mid-tone browns and honey shades work beautifully in traditional, rustic, or country-style homes, adding warmth without overwhelming the space. Or, for statement interiors, seeking visual impact, black luxury vinyl plank delivers dramatic contrast and a sophisticated edge. Each colour option in our range features realistic grain patterns, knots, and texture variations that mirror natural wood characteristics.
How to install luxury vinyl plank flooring
Luxury vinyl plank flooring can be installed in two main ways, depending on your subfloor and skill level. Click-lock planks connect to form a floating floor without adhesive, making them a popular choice for confident DIY installers, provided the subfloor is smooth and level. Dry-back (glue-down) LVT requires a full adhesive application for a permanent, exceptionally stable installation, which is why it’s often preferred in commercial settings or areas with heavy traffic. However, it demands meticulous subfloor preparation and is best fitted by professionals.
Regardless of installation method, your subfloor must be clean, level, and dry before fitting begins. We recommend using our network of experienced fitters who understand the specific requirements of LVT vinyl plank flooring to ensure your installation is complete to the highest standards.

What is the best way to clean LVT plank flooring?
Cleaning LVT plank flooring requires minimal effort compared to traditional wood floors. Regular sweeping or vacuuming removes loose dirt and grit that could potentially scratch the surface over time.
For deeper cleaning, use a damp mop with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner specifically designed for vinyl flooring. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbers, or steam mops, as excessive heat can damage the wear layer. For stubborn marks, use a soft cloth with a diluted cleaner. The protective wear layer on luxury plank vinyl repels most stains, so immediate attention to spills prevents any lasting marks. Unlike real wood, plank LVT never requires waxing, polishing, or refinishing, saving you considerable time and money over the floor's lifetime.
